Info on electoral systems
In a democracy the people elect the representatives to the government. In a small community all the people can join governmental discussions and be able to decide about taxes, laws, war etcetera. This is the ultimate way for the people to be part of decissions in a democraty. But in large countries this is not an option. The people will have to elect representatives and vote for persons they would like to have in the government.

Swedish political parties
Election information sweden.
Since 1917 the most significant party in Sweden has been the Swedish Social Democratic Party, Socialdemokraterna. This party has been the leading party in Sweden basically every year. Only in four elections did this party achieve so few votes in the Swedish elections that it has become a minority: in 1976, 1979, 1991 and 2006.

Constitution of Finland
The first parliamentary election in Finland was held in March 1907. The parliamentary elections to be held in March 2007 are the 35th parliamentary elections organized in Finland. Members of Parliament are elected for four years. Election Day is the third Sunday of March. Every Finnish citizen who is eighteen years old is allowed to vote in parliamentary elections. Finland was the first country to give full eligibility to women. There are not many immigrants in Finland but there are some swedish speaking people. There is no tension between the swedish speaking and the finnish speaking people.

Carl XVI Gustav is the king of Sweden. He became king in 1973. Before him from 1950 Gustav VI was king. Carl XVI Gustav and his wife, Sylvia and their children Kronprinsessan Victoria, duchess of Västergötland (born in 1977) Prins Carl Philip, duke of Värmland (born in 1979) Prinsessan Madeleine, duchess of Hälsingland och Gästrikland (born in 1982) are very good representatives of Sweden. The king has very little power in Sweden. His authority is mostly symbolic and representational.
